Noël Loozen (1983) is a Dutch film director, creative producer and visual artist who likes to dance on the thin line between the poetic and the absurd — always searching for that spark of magic in the everyday. Trained first in Photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and later in Film at the Netherlands Film Academy, his practice moves freely between cinema, television, installations, photography and commercials.

His films often arrive like small songs: SPOETNIK (2015), which landed at Berlinale’s Generation 14plus program, and BOTANICA (2018), both celebrated for their playful, offbeat tone. For television, he created MOONRIDERS, a children’s series about art that was twice nominated for Best Television Program at the Cinekid Awards. His installations, OBSTACLE COURSE 2.0 (2018) and DE DIJK (2025), live in public space and collections such as Schiphol International Airport.

Now Noël is steering toward his debut feature film, TOUTES DIRECTIONS produced by 100%, set to premiere in early 2026. At the same time, he is weaving new stories for the young and the curious: the dystopian youth series METROPIA (with NL Film and VPRO), the children’s film Alma in Kognita (written by Emily Reekers and Saar Ponsioen, produced by Topkapi Films), and an adaptation of Annie M.G. Schmidt’s timeless The Island of Nose (Tom Tippelaar), developed with Studio Ruba and Saar Ponsioen.

His commercial work sings in a different register, from the ODIDO campaign with TBWA\Neboko to award-winning films for the Vienna Tourism Board. He is represented commercially by 100% Halal in the Netherlands, Simon und Paul in Germany, and Kaiserschnitt Film in Austria. For fiction work he is represented by Connie at Solidbase Management.

Beyond his own projects, Noël shares his vision through teaching and masterclasses at art and film schools including the Willem de Kooning Academy, the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts, and the Academy of Architecture, where he guides students in film and concept development.
